Travel pictures from El Salvador were entered to a competition

My entry to the photo competition with travel pictures from EL Salvador taken at a sugar cane sweet manufacture.

Panela – sweet taste of childhood.

I want to share the pictures from my trip to El Salvador, a beautiful and yet underestimated as a travel destination country. How colorful and authentic this country is! I decided to choose the set of pictures that I took on a quick stop between tourists attractions.

The standard of living in El Salvador is very different, some kids go to excellent private schools, and others skip their education, learning how to earn money from the early age. The boy in the picture is taking his lesson of preparing the sweet.
My guide, a Salvadorian woman who lives in Australia and came to visit, was so nostalgic for the taste of her childhood favorite dessert made from sugar cane, Panela, leaving us no chance, but to visit the place where it was made. She didn’t seem to notice weird smell or mud, anticipating the treat.

Children treat everything as a game, finding amusing situations in work and in studying. The boy enjoys a little rest between his lessons, laughing with his colleges. It seems, he enjoys the sweet that he is making not the less.
Would you try it? People drive a long way from the capital of the country for this caramel like hand made treat. It seems they don’t mind the heat waiting for workers to wrap it. Well, the dark filled with steam place, and interesting characters were my treat.
